Re: [hylafax-users] USR 33.6 External Receive Errors

Hello
Yes, I know that USR modems are bad (but that is all that I have for
now).
I have three different models, and each one has presented me with
errors.
This post concerns the 33.6 External Faxmodem receiving FAXes from an
HP
T45xi FAX machine.
My predominant error goes something like (this could be after 1 page
or 12
pages ? I am using a 13 page test):
Dec 20 16:32:55.88: [ 2979]: <-- [9:AT+FRS=7\r]
Dec 20 16:32:55.98: [ 2979]: --> [2:OK]
Dec 20 16:32:55.99: [ 2979]: RECV: 1383 bytes of data, 2192 total
lines
Dec 20 16:32:55.99: [ 2979]: <-- [9:AT+FTH=3\r]
Dec 20 16:33:25.99: [ 2979]: MODEM <Timeout>
Dec 20 16:33:25.99: [ 2979]: RECV send MCF (message confirmation)
Dec 20 16:33:25.99: [ 2979]: RECV FAX (000000329): from 4146152434,
page 9
in 0:41, INF, 7.7 line/mm, 2-D MMR, 14400 bit/s
Dec 20 16:33:25.99: [ 2979]: <-- data [3]
Dec 20 16:33:25.99: [ 2979]: <-- data [2]
Dec 20 16:33:28.54: [ 2979]: --> [5:ÿ?
_____
]
This is a very common USR firmware error. I had thought that maybe the
presence of the +FRS/+FTS commands was the catalyst for this, but you
appear to have tested it...
Dec 20 16:12:33.87: [ 2979]: RECV assumed RCP frame with block end
Dec 20 16:12:33.98: [ 2979]: --> [10:NO CARRIER]
Dec 20 16:12:33.98: [ 2979]: <-- [9:AT+FRH=3\r]
Dec 20 16:12:40.98: [ 2979]: --> [0:]
Dec 20 16:12:40.98: [ 2979]: MODEM <Empty line>
So, it looks to me like you're stuck in a rut with that modem.
Does this look indeed to be the modem, or is there something else that
I can
try changing?
Most certainly looks like USR garbage, yes.
Lee.
