Re: [hylafax-users] FaxDispatch PDF

I've been trying to have all the faxes that I receive via HylaFAX come in as .pdf files. I read the FAQs and HOWTOs where it says all you have to do is change the line in the FaxDispatch file

from:
FILETYPE=tif;

to:
FILETYPE=pdf;

I changed this and it doesn't seem to have any effect.

Hello Paul,

it's not clear to me where you expect to find PDF files.

Do you get mail with the fax document as attachment?
Is this in TIFF format?

Maybe a mail is sent to faxmaster which probably is an alias for root. You can set SENDTO=e-mail-address in FaxDispatch to specify where you want to send the fax documents. There is a variable NOTIFY_FAXMASTER which controls when the faxmaster will get a notification.

I was watching the recvq/ directory during the last test fax that I sent and it appeared to temporarily convert to a PS file, but only for an instant.

In the spool directory all fax documents are stored as TIFF files. The conversion is temporary to create the mail attachment.

Bodo
