Re: [hylafax-users] Hylafax Newbie: Cannot Initialize Server

First of all I am a newbie like the subjet says when it comes to
hylafax. Up untill last week I hadn't used a modem on a computer in
about 10 years much less for linux, This is what happens when you
are DSL spoiled I guess. On with the question:
I have a Zoom Fax Modem, RedHat 8.0 and RPM installs of
hylafax-server etc. I have tired to use winprint-hylafax to print
from a windows client to the hylafax server but I am having no luck.
I have no idea where to locate log files to tell what is not
communicating correctly, especially since /var/spool/hylafax/log is
empty. when I type faxstat I get the following 'HylaFAX scheduler on
localhost.localdomain: Running' 'Modem ttyS0 (phone number):
Initializing server.
It is always initializing server and I am not sure why. I have set
up a hylafax user and named it faxuser, and I am getting to a loss as
to how to get things running the rest of the way. Any guidance would
be greatly appreciated and I have been reading through the
documentation.
Turn up logging (SessionTracing/ServerTracing) in your modem config
files (see 'man hylafax-config'), and then look at the logs (probably
/var/log/messages) to see why it is having difficulty initializing the
modem.
At the very least, send a log of a failed initialization here.
Lee.
