What kernel does it say?

I'm using 2.6.5-7.108-default on a SuSE 9.1...

There is a patch for capi4hylafax to fix some issues with 2.6 kernels.

Ok, let me see...

If you search the archive at www.hylafax.org for capi4hylafax not sending I'm sure you'll find a fix for your symptoms. They're pretty common.
