Re: [hylafax-users] 4.2rc upgrade

I have been prepared to upgrade to 4.2 for a while, but I keep

upgrade to the final if there are any more changes.

I have been using RPMs up until now, and would like to do just the
same.
Can I just do the usual rpm -Uvh command and away we go?

That should do the trick. There is a remote possibility that you'll need to re-run faxsetup. It shouldn't hurt to re-run it anyway.

Any other changes I should make? Regenerate my modem configs? I'm
using
the blasted USR PCI modems in class 1 right now.

There were no default config changes for the USR modems, as far as I remember. If you, like many other USR users, experience modem lockups (if you do, then you'll know what I'm talking about, if you don't then you won't), you may want to try setting Class1SwitchingCmd to "<delay:7>". That seems to have helped some people with that problem (sadly, it makes the timing at that moment slightly unpredictable).

Should I set them up
for 1.0 or 2.0

Class 1. Class 2.0 on the USRs is really bad, and they don't support Class 1.0.

or something else after the upgrade? Anything else I
should prepare for?

Be prepared for better faxing. ;-)
