Yes that fixed it!  I downloaded the deb-src package for libtiff3g, 
patched it with the Debian patches, patched it with your patch, re-built 
and re-installed it and now I can see my faxes!

Yay!  Thanks very much Lee!

I guess I don't need to submit a bug report against the Debian packages 
since it's already been fixed upstream, right?
