Re: [hylafax-users] When notify is on, can the email address format be set ?

Hi Geoff,

In the end I didn't get an answer to this but I actually prefer the default method provided by Hylafax for formatting emails as it indicates what machine the email originated from and hence will provide correct return paths etc. It was more our admin people asking me to change Hylafax so I asked the question on their behalf.
In the end I beat up the people doing our administration and convinced them that the sendmail.cf should provide the appropriate rules to handle the email - after all user@xxxxxxxxxxx is a valid email format.
In the end they agreed - so my problem went away.

As for your problem - well maybe you need the same answer. After all, you can't modify every app you install (OK, OK, Open source excepted *grin*) - especially if the email format is valid.

I hope this helps...

Hi,

I want  to do something similar as well.  The messages sent to addresses user@xxxxxxxxxxx don't go anywhere, but they  would reach their destination if it was simply user@domain.

This  only happens when I send the fax by printing via Samba Fax.  If I send an  email to fax, the reply comes back to the correct person.

It  seems that the username of the user who prints to the samba fax printer is being  taken for the left half of the email address and then hylafaxmachinename.domain  is used as the right half of the email address.  I want to change what the  right half is.

Cheers,
Geoff

Subject: [hylafax-users]  When notify is on, can the email address format be set

Hi all,

when notify is set, the email format it  is sending off is user@xxxxxxxxxxxx Is there any way to change the format so  that it only goes to user.

We  don't have remote users issuing sendfaxes so this format is not really needed  and the full format is causing issues for our email administrators. They would  prefer it only email local users.

Any hints ?

Bruce Whittaker,
