[hylafax-users] Cannot initialize modem
Hi,
i have a lot of problems with using a ELSA Microlink 28.8TQV but i think,
the problem isn't the modem. Hylafax cannot initialize the Modem on the
device ttyS0.
I installed the modem successfully with faxaddmodem. This is the logfile
of initializing the modem:
Nov 7 18:15:00 [FaxGetty] OPEN /dev/ttyS0 HylaFAX (tm) Version 4.1.7
Nov 7 18:15:01 [FaxGetty] MODEM set DTR OFF
Nov 7 18:15:01 [FaxGetty] /dev/ttyS0: Can not initialize modem.
Nov 7 18:15:01 [FaxGetty] STATE CHANGE: BASE -> MODEMWAIT (timeout 30)
Nov 7 18:15:32 [FaxGetty] MODEM set DTR OFF
- Last output repeated twice -
Nov 7 18:16:03 [FaxGetty] Unable to setup modem on /dev/ttyS0; giving up
after 2 attempts
Nov 7 18:16:03 [FaxGetty] MODEM /dev/ttyS0 appears to be wedged
Nov 7 18:16:03 [FaxGetty] CLOSE /dev/ttyS0
I can use cu to dial with the modem, all things are well. I switched on
all the logs too, but thats all i got. It seems, that the Hylafax cannot
talk to the device.
This is a strace of the faxgetty:
write(3, "<190>Nov 7 23:41:49 FaxGetty[10"..., 76) = 76
rt_sigaction(SIGPIPE, {SIG_IGN}, NULL, 8) = 0
geteuid() = 10
setreuid(65535, 0) = 0
unlink("/var/lock/subsys/LCK..ttyS0") = 0
setreuid(65535, 10) = 0
rt_sigaction(SIGPIPE, {0x401ab6e4, [], 0}, {SIG_IGN}, 8) = 0
time([1068244909]) = 1068244909
getpid() = 10023
write(3, "<190>Nov 7 23:41:49 FaxGetty[10"..., 83) = 83
rt_sigaction(SIGPIPE, {SIG_IGN}, NULL, 8) = 0
flock(4, LOCK_EX) = 0
_llseek(4, 0, [0], SEEK_SET) = 0
write(4, "Waiting for modem to come ready\n", 32) = 32
_llseek(4, 0, [32], SEEK_CUR) = 0
ftruncate(4, 32) = 0
flock(4, LOCK_UN) = 0
gettimeofday({1068244909, 920189}, NULL) = 0
gettimeofday({1068244909, 920372}, NULL) = 0
select(6, [5], [], [], {29, 999817}
It stops on the select twice then faxgetty ends.
Any ideas about that problem.
Thanks
Claus
