[hylafax-users] Strange issue - HylaFax sends postscript file as raw postscript text

Problem : I have a 3 page Postscript file which I attempt to fax.  
When I send a Postscript fax, Hylafax sends the fax as plain, raw
postscript text
(i.e. 178 pages of postscript output) rather than the 3 pages it's
supposed to be !!
However, HylaFax seems to believe everything is fine and sends me a
"completed
successfully" .. for the entire 178 page fax :-)

Hylafax : 4.1.6 w/Sambafax
System  : RH Linux 8.0 3.2.7 w/ghostscript 7.05-20 on Intel PC
Modem   : USR Courier HST v.34 FAX (class 2.0)

Status  : My system receives faxes perfectly (fax forwarding with PDF
works like a breeze.  Just brilliant!)

Troubleshooting : When I send a fax with Sambafax the fax is printed on
my Windows PC to a PS file.  The PS file is handled by Sambafax which
parses the file to retrieve the fax number and then processes the
command
${SENDFAX} -n -D -f ${MailTo} -d ${FAXNUM} ${FAXFILE}.  This actually
happens,
and I have modified the sambafax script to leave the original $FAXFILE
in the
/tmp directory.  I have then converted the *.PS file to *.PDF to view it
and
it's very much the same as the original.  Second step : Check the SENDQ
and
DOCQ and logs.

/sendq contains the queue file (q2) which states that the fax is
actually 178 pages
(which is very wrong - it's three pages..)

/docq contains

The original postscript file ($FAXFILE under /tmp) looks like this

[I have tried converting the doc2.ps* files into PDF and they are just
plain postscript text,
 rather than the text/graphics pages they are supposed to be..  Could it
be ps2fax!?!?]

Again, the log tells us that the document it's trying to send
(docq/doc2.ps;01) is actually 178 pages ..

Questions : 
1.  What's happening :-) ? Why does HylaFax even convert the original
Postscript to *two* new Postscript files??
2.  How come the original three page Postscript is converted into 178
pages of text?
3.  How do I go about further troubleshooting and does anyone have a
clue where to look?

Some other input:
- My original postscript file contains extra fonts.  Does this pose a
problem?
- I haven't used syslog nor do I know how to use it.
