Yes there is.

You generate a Class 1 configuration file (faxaddmodem) and merge it to 
your existing configuration file (back it up before running 
faxaddmodem) except you do NOT merge the "ModemType:  Class1" line.  In 
your DestControls file you add a line:

.*1234567$    ModemType = Class1

If sending in Class 1 works, however, and the NetComm modems' firmware 
offers no additional features in Class 2 then you may want to consider 
switching entirely since I suspect you'll have less problems over the 
long haul.
