this is normal behaviour. A notification email is sent every time when
receiving fax to faxmaster, and this is the alias to root. Check your
aliases file, its location can vary, it could be e.g. /etc/aliases and you
will find there a record for faxmaster leading to root.
The purpose is mainly to be informed about the incoming facsimiles and
operation of the hylafax server.
