[hylafax-users] Recomended modems and scanners

All,

Is there a recommended list of modems for Hylafax and possibly even a
recommended list of scanners. I am trying to replace my OfficeJet500 with
new hardware and use a Hylafax/Modem/Scanner/Printer combo for the 1 or 2
faxes that I send a week.I am asking about the modem because I want to use
alternate ring. Hylafax will be running on a "built from scratch" linux
box that I use as a file server.

It took quite a bit of convincing of the wife to get rid of the Officejet,
even though it has smeared ink when it prints, ever since it has been
hooked up to a Linux box. I bought an HP 5550 for a new printer and I am
going to replace the Astra 1200S with a USB model from HP unless there is
negative feedback about these scanners. I see that the HP Scanjet 5550c
has a document feeder and is about $300. Compared to what the Astra cost 5
Years ago, this seems like a deal.

Comments welcome
