Jim,

This problem has been noticed on other systems already (RedHat 9 & 
RedHat 8.0) but no solution is yet found.  Initial thoughts are that it 
is an awk problem.  I'd be happy to help figure it out if you're 
willing to test.  File a Bugzilla report with relevant data.
