What kind of modem is this?

It has broken firmware. According to the TIA/EIA-592 standard, section
8.2.2, the response to +FCLASS=? should be "a string of values, separated by
commas, followed by a result code; neither bracketing parentheses nor hyphens
are permitted. For example, a DCE that supported data communication and both
Service Classes could respond:

	<CR><LF>0,1,2.0<CF><LF>

The earlier standard where the +FCLASS=? query (probably) originated,
TIA/EIA-578, has similar language in section 8.2.2.

These documents are available from 'Global Engineering Documents' (or were, a
few years ago). If you want a free unofficial copy, check out MultiTech's
web site for the 'Class2 Fax Developer's Kit'.

But back to your problem. You could

- get your modem manufacturer to fix your modem's firmware to meet the
standard.

- modify 'faxgetty' to accept the non-standard response

- get a different modem that meets the standard.

One really can't expect 'faxgetty' to accept arbitrary responses from modems.
