no problem about the PS. You can prepare the coverpage yourself
and use that as the document (stdin to sendfax).

Like:
> faxcover -t "${RCV_NAME}" -f "${SENDER}" -C "${COVER_TEMPLATE}" \
  -r "${SUBJECT}"  -n "${RCV_NUMBER}" | sendfax -n -f"${SENDER}" \
  -d "${RCV_NUMBER}"

No hints for the bigger part of your question I'm sorry...
