I've never had problems with any MultiTech modem.  We're still using a
number of their MT2834ZDX units with HylaFAX, and even a few ones slower
than that which work great with HylaFAX.  We use them primarily on Linux
systems where they're handling incoming and outgoig uucp calls in addition
to their fax duties.
