Usually, source installs go into
/usr/local/hylafax
or
/usr/local/{lib,bin,sbin,...}

In the 1st case it's simple.
In the 2nd case, you have the rpm so do:
rpm -qpl hylafax....rpm

then look at the same files with /usr/local instead of /usr and clean them
up by hand.

Then set ServerTracing 0xfff and send /var/log/messages with modem messages.
