Don't know. I don't think whfc does anything as regards to 1D/2D (at least I
don't see any setting related to this)

Don't think so. It's a rockwell class1 modem with faxgetty on it, so that
usually it does 1D or 2D MR because it's HylaFAX that controls everything.
I have
RecvDataFormat: "2-D MMR"
just to compress received faxes after they are received.

I sporadically had the same problem Darren talked about in bugzilla
http://bugs.hylafax.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=321
(qXXX without phone number with faxstat logging to syslog at every
invocation). There was consensus that the error was related to problems
during network communication between client and server; maybe the problem I
experienced today is another manifestation of the same problem: somehow the
whfc->HylaFAX conversation got corrupted/confused and HylaFAX thought it was
requested MMR?

But this would not worry me. The problem is that the user got a positive
confirmation, so he thought all was ok.

However, I updated the HylaFAX installation when the job was scheduled,
maybe this could have caused problems?

Thanks.
