You're going to HAVE to use CVS with these modems in Class 2.0.  They give 
reporting in hex format which will break current HylaFAX code.  Also, 
these modems support V.34-fax (Super G3), and CVS has that enabled, too... 
as well as some other dandy features.

You'll need to upgrade to CVS and then re-run faxaddmodem.

If you don't want to use CVS, then you'll need to run in Class 2 or Class 
1 until the next code release.
