the best i have been able to do is add this into my faxrcvd (its one line)

SENDER="`$INFO $FILE | $AWK -F: '/Sender/ { print $2 }' | sed 's/ /_/g' 2>/dev/null`"

and use $SENDER where i want the info to go.

Please note that sender in not always available, and that i am also new to
this. YMMV
