Do you have sendmail configured to work with faxmail?

 From what I remember, you have to set up faxmail and set up a mailer in 
sendmail that handles the mail.  It sounds like you are missing the 
mailer in sendmail or the /var/spool/mail permissions are hosed.

Let me know if you need more info; I don't have time to get into my 
setup right now.
