Maybe. The 8100c is $1300 and is 4 page per minute. The 9100c is $2800.
A 15 ppm 50 page scanner would be what, $400, a PC, $500, a monitor $150, so
say a total of $1150. You could then load sane and write a quick interface
and there you go, but space wise it does take up a bit more.

We had made heavy use of three of these units at my old job and they never
failed.
