Here it is specifying -T at the command line.
[deanox@server deanox]$ sendfax -T 7 -d 7550917 /etc/passwd
request id is 3759 (group id 3759) for host localhost (1 file)
[deanox@server deanox]$ faxstat -sl
HylaFAX scheduler on server.deanox.com: Running
Modem ttyS1 (+1.435.755.0959): Running and idle
JID Pri S Owner Number Pages Dials TTS Status
3759 127 R deanox 7550917 0:0 0:7
[deanox@server deanox]$
And after editing etc/config and adding MaxDials...
[root@server deanox]# sendfax -d 7550917 /etc/passwd
request id is 3760 (group id 3760) for host localhost (1 file)
[root@server deanox]# faxstat -sl
HylaFAX scheduler on server.deanox.com: Running
Modem ttyS1 (+1.435.755.0959): Running and idle
JID Pri S Owner Number Pages Dials TTS Status
3760 127 R root 7550917 0:0 0:12
[root@server deanox]#
Alas, you are right. There appears to be a problem.
