[hylafax-users] Writing a HylaFAX client?

I have a faxback application.  I used to fork-exec the HylaFAX client
that comes with the distribution ('sendfax'), but now I will have to
send the
faxes without fork-exec: i.e., I need to write my own client.

Any tips and pointers to writing such a client are very much welcome.

One suggestion that didn't work was to send a fax with the -v
option in order to see the client/server interchange.  Unfortunately,
this
option works with the 'faxstat' command, but not with 'sendfax'.
