Re: [hylafax-users] Similar USR 33.6 pro

Hi,

This isn't really relevant to Hylafax, but it may help someone out there !
One thing to be aware of with external USRobotics modems is that they use a variety of different power supplies.

If like us, you happen to have loads of USR modems, make sure that the PSU that you use for it is actually the correct one for the modem. They tend to use either 9 volt or 18 volt. If you use a 9 volt PSU on a modem which is actually an 18 volt model, it may look as though the modem is functioning correctly, ie it will respond to AT commands and dial out etc., however it has a tendancy to drop the line part way through handshaking. This has caused me no end of grief in the past.

Regards,

Rob

Dear Ekkehard,
I think that the problem are USR 33.6 modems VoiceFax; I have two modems
and
none of them works with hylafax... I've substituted those modems with an
entry level one and hylafax works perfectly.

....But I've lost 3 weeks trying and trying again with USR.....

Regards,
Alberto
