[hylafax-users] hylafax-4.1beta2
I don't see any one on the list having the issues I am having so, I must not be
understanding this. More guidance is requested.
According to 'man hosts.hfaxd' ...
"User IDs may be any number in the range [0..6002] with 6002 used, by
convention, for entries that do not have a uid specified"
-
my entry in hosts.hfaxd is the following;
user@localip <-- Exactly like that
-
hosts.hfaxd permissions = -rw------- 1 uucp dialer 41 Jun 11 07:31
hosts.hfaxd
Yet when I received a recent fax, this recent fax can *not* be viewed from a
windows client.
# NOTE: permissions on the recent fax ....
-rw-r--r-- 1 uucp dialer 25724 Jun 14 14:36 fax00047.tif
-
If the man page is true in its definition, "using 6002 by convention" (I'm
assuming they mean default) How could this recent fax have been assigned the UID
of uucp and the GID of dialer? Am I again missing something :/ ?
Long story shorter, we aren't able to view this/any fax.
HylaFax was installed via FreeBSD ports collection. I have seen a borked
faxsetup within the script whereas it adds a 'fax' user to the line used in
inetd. It also adds the user 'fax' to the password file. This is the first
time *post* three installs that this has happen. In the past installs I have
had distinctive ring issues but, the viewing of faxes has worked flawlessly via
the default method of notification from HylaFAX: (ftp://link_within_email) opens
IE-5.x with alternatiff-1 pluggin installed.
Any thoughts on what I'm missing?
