Yes, you are right.  Winmodems (software modems) have no real serial
interface except for what the driver provides.  I had heard that some folks
on this mailing list had used the LT Winmodem before, so I was hoping they
had some suggestions, but the "defaults" seem to be working fine.  The LT
Winmodem initializes in about 1/2 the amount of time as my Rockwell modem
does and about 4X faster than my USR modem in the development system.

My first fax was received just wonderfully.  Interesting.
