sendfax (called from a perl script which is called from samba, 
a modified printax/respond environment)

But it did not do this since installation which is months/years ago :-(
Some time ago I upgraded to 4.1beta3 (the rpm which I built myself with your help)
and added a second modem. Today i saw this behaviour for the first time.
