Not the modem by itself hangs up but hylafax tells the modem to hang up.
just a guess: hylafax does rasterization of faxes before placing the call. If a fax is rasterized in a way the
receiver cannot handle (which can only be determined after a call has been established and the features of
both parties have been negotiated) hylafxfax drops the line, rasterizes again (in a way compatible with this receiver)
and starts a new call.
Is this destination called again after the failure?
