Yes, sendmail needs to know that procmail is the local MDA. The
installation instructions for procmail should give you better instructions.
You can find a copy of the procmail FAQ at:
http://www.ling.helsinki.fi/users/reriksso/procmail/mini-faq.html
But, I think the gist of the matter is that you need these lines in your
sendmail.cf file:
######################*****##############
### PROCMAIL Mailer specification ###
##################*****##################
##### $Id: procmail.m4,v 8.20 1999/10/18 04:57:54 gshapiro Exp $ #####
Mprocmail, P=/usr/bin/procmail, F=DFMSPhnu9,
S=EnvFromSMTP/HdrFromSMTP, R=EnvToSMTP/HdrFromSMTP,
T=DNS/RFC822/X-Unix,
A=procmail -Y -m $h $f $u
-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-==
Mlocal, P=/usr/bin/procmail, F=lsDFMAw5:/|@qSPfhn9,
S=EnvFromL/HdrFromL, R=EnvToL/HdrToL,
T=DNS/RFC822/X-Unix,
A=procmail -Y -a $h -d $u
This, of course, is better done by using m4 than by editing the .cf file
directly - but since procmail comes configured for sendmail with the RedHat
distro... I don't do any of that myself.
Allow me to recommend that you just follow the instructions and use the
files to which I directed you last week:
http://www.hylafax.org/howto/clients/RelayFax.html
It has a simple email-to-fax capability already as described - without
using RelayFax, by using your mail client. You can alter the procmail
recipes from there, if you desire.
Lee.
