You need to stop running faxgetty on ttyM0

That won't do much but prevent future modem installations on ttyM0 from
using its defaults.

This will prevent outbound faxes from being allocated to ttyM0.

This doesn't matter so much.

Stop respawning faxgetty on ttyM0.  (Probably in your inittab file.)

Also, you may want to delete the ttyM0 file in etc/status so that you don't
see it when you run faxstat.
