[hylafax-users] Immediate Disconnect with faxgetty active (FreeBSD 4/HylaFax 4.1b

Before I go any further -- to use inbound PPP and outbound fax on a
single modem, I need to run faxgetty on that port, right? That's the
assumption I'm working from and the reason I'm mucking with my (normally
working) setup.

I'm probably misunderstanding something fundamental about either
FreeBSD (4.2-STABLE) or HylaFAX, but I can't figure this one out:

HylaFAX works fine in a send-only environment when I don't run faxgetty
to manage the serial port. If I do use faxgetty, it hangs up just after
it connects to the recipient fax machine. After this happens, I get a
stream of /dev/cuaaX wedged messages until I have to kill the fax process.

It doesn't seem to matter whether I tell HylaFAX to use ttyd0 or cuaa0
(all the HylaFAX/FreeBSD documentation I've seen recommend cuaaX devices)

The entry for the fax/modem port in /etc/ttys looks like this:

cuaa0 "/usr/local/sbin/faxgetty" dialup on

  Here's the log:

I get a constant stream of these and reports that the modem is wedged
(below from syslog:)

Jan 3 11:42:37 claudius FaxQueuer[22877]: MODEM /dev/cuaa0 appears to be
wedged

  ps ax reports this:

22877 ?? Is 0:00.01 faxq
22920 ?? S 0:00.04 faxsend -m cuaa0 sendq/q1
23116 ?? S 0:00.02 /usr/local/sbin/faxgetty cuaa0

...and all I can do to clear the problem is kill -9 faxsend. Nothing
gets solved.
