Well, actually, I installed tiff-3.5.5 for you, in /usr/local/bin. It escapes
me why you decided to move the libtiff build tree into /usr/local/bin/ though:

	[ns:/usr/local/bin] root# ls -al /usr/local/bin/libtiff/ | head -10
	total 5374
	drwxrwxrwx 2 root wheel 3072 Jul 12 12:57 .
	drwxr-xr-x 4 root sys 1024 Jul 12 12:55 ..

Perhaps you're relying upon people following this thread . . . I dunno. They need to know that you're trying to compile this on a Mac, and that you're not running Linux, but Macintosh OSXS, whatever that is.

As far as I can tell, and I may be wrong, you're looking at a brand new port to a flavour of UNIX which has never been tackled. In short, a whole world of hurt. Perhaps you should consider sliding Linux onto an old PC ;-) Don't get me wrong, a port to your OS would be GREAT. But it's potentially a very big job.
