flexfax: hosts.hfaxd howto?

Hello,
	I am a single user on a stand alone laptop.  Will the line
^*@*.*$:::
allow all users on my laptop access?  Or should it be 
^*@*$:::
And will the above line(s) suffice?
Or I have three users for myself
root
george
russian
	Do I need to add a ^{user}@<machine name>$:::
for each of them?  I'm guessing that root doesn't need permission.
	And what does the $::: do? I was told that SuSE (Linux) users needed
the line
^{user}@<machine name>$:::

By the way, searching the hylafax thread using
$:::
      or
:::
brings up nothing, even though they are present.
