Phase B (code 70) and deaf faxgetty errors

Hello all,
Firstly I apologise if this is covered somewhere, however I have searched
the archives of this list and the FAQ to no avail. I hope sending log
snippets is not too much a burden on this list.
I have two problems:
1- some incoming faxes fail with Phase B error (code 70)
2- whenever this happens no more calls are answered for approximately 30
miniutes.
Now my hunch for number 2 is that this has something to do with the lock
file (which is set to time out after 30 minutes in the Hylafax settings).
When I kill the faxgetty process and remove the lock file, all seems to work
OK. But why does this happen?
Obviously the key code below is:
--> [9:+FHNG: 70]
But what does this represent?
I am running the latest version of Hylafax beta under Linux (Redhat 6.1) on
an i486. The modem is a Maestro Executive 288FM (Class 2) which is
identified by Hylafax as a Rockwell chipset (as indeed it is). That modem
has worked very well using another fax server (Communigate) which also used
it in Class 2.
I am a little concerned by the line of garbage:
--> [4:b'Şü]
I have seen reports on this list that this happens with buggy USR chipsets.
But I am new to Hylfax and don't really have much more of an idea of what to
do now.
One further clue is that faxes from one particular source can complete
successfully or fail with the phase B errors with no particular pattern. Is
this some line noise thing?
Thank you for any help,
Ari Maniatis
