A segmentation violation (GPF in Windows terms).

No broken pipe.

Look at the core file and/or run the script directly with sh  -x.
Given that the shell script is trivial, I would look at faxmail,
but expect the problem to be in misconfiguration, not the program
itself.

Note that, perversely, this error message is in octal:

deliver.c:      syserr("451 mailer %s died with signal %o",
