Install libtiff statically instead of as a shared library, so that
you don't have to use something like "LD_LIBRARY_PATH" to get it
(which is ignored for root-owned processes under SunOS, and I suspect
for Solaris). It may be possible to compile in the LIBTIFF
by setting it in your config.local file, as follows:

	LIBTIFF="-L/usr/local/lib -ltiff"	# linkage convention for libtiff

Then recompile.
