flexfax: sendfax fails to recognize file format

Hi,

sendfax fails to recognize a file which contains a European special
character accent grave. I tried changing the file typerules by putting in a
line with string matching anything with offset 0, but this doesn't help. 
file(1) on HPUX tells me it is a s500 assembler program text.

Any suggestions to make sendfax werk with other character codes beside the
standard US ASCII?
