Sortof, the ghostscript fonts package contain afm files as well as the
fonts themselves. These are both mapped by the Fontmap file. The patch
allows textfmt to directly read the Fontmap file(s) to find the afm file(No
need to provide your own afm file or to manually symlink to the ghostscript
one - its all automatic).

I had a quick look, and to be honest i would do it in two stages.

First i would try to get it working with Type 1 fonts(the Kanji fonts
package??) which should have associated afm files. Hopefully that
shouldn't require many changes to TextFmt.

And then after that is all going try to figure out a way to do True Type.

Good Luck :-)
