Sounds like someone has tweaked your /var/spool/fax/bin/faxrcvd
script. This file determines what to do with received faxes.

Faxcron uses /usr/local/sbin/recvstats which in turn inspects xferlog
to determine received faxes. Make sure xferlog exists in
/var/spool/fax/etc and has usable data in it.
