The $SPOOLDIR/etc directory has several devices installed. These
cannot be NFS mounted, but must be on the local disk.  There are also
several FIFO's in $SPOOLDIR for the faxq and modems, that must be on
local disk.

It is possible, I think, to pick and choose directories to mount from 
an NFS server. $SPOOLDIR/recvq and other document holding directories,
for example, could be NFS imported.
