Good for you! I like Zyxel's. I've also been writing some patches
for my RedHat Linux 5.0 box, which correct and modify a number
of things. They're at http://cirl.meei.harvard.edu/~raoul/patches,
and you're welcome to them if you like.

Something is on your modem line. Either the configuration is failing,
or something's wrong with your modem.

This is correct.

Look for a lock file, and make sure that minicom and HylaFAX use the
same name for the modem. Also make sure they use the same "lock" file
locations.
