Re: Modem ZyXEL Elite 2864 ID

BTW: I think I'll never understand why it's necesary to send
simple ASCII e-mail (all the chars in your log and the english
text are plain ASCII) in such a mime encoded form which makes
it very difficult to read, e.g. to check the AT-commands in
your log "AT&B1&N0&S0S18=3D4S38.3=3D1E0V1Q0S0=3DH" for problems.

    Mine is: Elite 2864ID DSS1 v1.142864
    	=20
    I have tested a little more and isolated 2 problems:

    1) (probably not related to the modem): I have 2 modems, one 1496 which =
    works fine and the 2864. Both are connected to a serial port with =
    faxgetty running on it, and I have reset the modem priorities with =
    "faxmodem -u 255 tty[1/2]A. But HylaFAX always ignores the 2nd modem. No =
    matter which modem is connected to which port, all faxes will always go =
    to tty1A.=20

    2) When I force HylaFAX to send via the new modem with "faxsend -m =
    tty2A" I get this result:=20

    Jun 18 13:16:01 idefix2 FaxSend[825]: DELAY 2600 ms
    Jun 18 13:16:04 idefix2 FaxSend[825]: <-- =
    [36:AT&B1&N0&S0S18=3D4S38.3=3D1E0V1Q0S0=3DH
    0\r]

in the above sequence there is something wrong with the setting
of the register S0 (or it's wrong encoded in the mail); I can't
see the value for S0 (should be S0=0);

    Jun 18 13:16:09 idefix2 FaxSend[825]: MODEM <Timeout>
    [repeated several times until "Modem wedged" message]

    When I connect to the modem with cu and enter the same command string, I =
    get an "OK" at once. Where's the difference???

The may be some difference in the bps setting and faxgetty(1M)
issues an DTR drop to force a clean modem state;

if you can't get success you could send the device to me and
I'll check it out;
