Re: HylaFAX v4.0pl1 installation problem

Ahmed, the email is getting out: Honest. I should have written back,
but I've been swamped and Flexfax assistance is on my own free time.

Let's see, when we last spoke, faxgetty did not seem to be running
correctly. Putting it in inittab did not keep the modem up and running
under your Linux system, and it did not seem able to initialize the
modem. Could you possibly go back and list your OS, your compiler,
the version of gcc, and anything else you have running that may
be affecting the modem? For example, did you accidentally leave
any other entries affecting /dev/cua1, and have you got the logs
of the results of "faxaddmodem"? And did you try removing the
"faxgetty" from inittab, kicking your init program with a
"kill -HUP" to get it to re-read inittab, and starting faxgetty
by hand to monitor its behavior?

Also, I seem to remember some important differences between /dev/cua1
and /dev/ttya under SunOS, having to do with the DSR flags. Have you
tried using /dev/ttyS1 instead of using /dev/cua1? I'm basically
thinking of all the different little things I'd tweak at this point on
your system to eliminate them as possible sources of grief, things
that are known to be different on working systems.
