The "/etc/hosts" file mentioned in the HylaFAX documentation is, unfortunately,
not the /etc/hosts: it is accessed with a "chroot" by the appropriate
software, and its real location is $SPOOLDIR/etc/hosts.

Assuming that this is what you really meant when you said the
/etc/hosts is OK, have you confirmed that you indeed have a "hfaxd"
and "faxq" running?
